Description

Taking a break this Friday and will post two posts updated by me next week to make up for it.

... Also I like the ideas churning in my head for this line so wanted to get it out there now. So in the meantime, this princess is about to get serious... lets see how well that works out. XD

~ A minion walks in and sees the Princess scaling the side of the tower via bedding. ~
~ plucking a bottle from her dress, the Princess drinks it for a special method of escape. ~
~ The Princess manages to make a weapon from her bed and forces her way out. `

I love the deconstruction of the whole "damsel in distress" idea! Unlike other princesses, your princess actually is genre-savvy enough to have ACTUALLY read fairy tales about princesses being caught and trapped. Hence, she knows that being a princess, she should have expected such a thing to happen, and she's conscious about it!

Plus, your caption above pokes fun at how "young men" are more interested in "power," and are out there just to marry into power. Wow, that's something fairy tales do NOT talk about: the ulterior motives of her "rescuers." One of the people (who commented on your true princess tale) talked about your story being a reconstruction of the princess fantasy genre, and that person is right. In this case, you deconstruct AND reconstruct the genre: she's trapped in the tower (like Rapunzel), but decides to take action (which is common in action stories that feature girls as heroines, like Laura Croft). Plus, she's smart enough to realize that not everyone who wants to save her is actually trying to "rescue" her. I like your princess' resolve.
