Ukyo had discovered a mysterious green gem that was said to negate all other magics apart from its own. Believing this might finally solve Ranma's problem with water, she brought it to him. But it didn't, making things worse as Ukyo looked up at a bubble containing a mermaid version of Ranma. Ukyo couldn't believe her eyes and didn't notice the gem crackling and hitting her with a few bolts of energy. Soon, a similar fate befell her as she floated around in a bubble of water, a mermaid too. And that would have been the end... if Ukyo's excitement over a cure for Ranma hand't attracted more attention...
